ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Jayna Mistry and welcome to my page. This website was created in hopes of you readers getting to know me and showing off my creative skills within fashion design. Let’s begin!

I was born and raised in Leicester, a multicultural city in the heart of East Midlands. Before I started university, I attended Gateway College where I studied three creative courses – A Level Art, A Level Fashion & Textiles and BTEC Fashion Photography. In addition, I decided to stay another year to pursue a Foundation Degree course in Art. Currently, I am completing my final year at Staffordshire University, studying BA (Hons) Fashion. Being at university has made me a much more confident person, it has also inspired me throughout the course to find my aesthetic which is unique and something I can call mine as well as pushing myself out of my comfort zone and being able to explore more.

Being creative is something I am passionate about, whether it is designing or making I’m always ready to get the work done. Studying fashion has allowed be to be excited, learn new skills and develop my current skills as well as being independent and reaching my end goals. I will continue to widen my knowledge and learn new skills which will give me the advantage of using them when pursuing a career in the fashion industry.

My biggest accomplishment this year is being able to raise £2,000 for Graduate Fashion Week with my fellow classmates. We raised money to have our work displayed on the Graduate Fashion Week website has given us the opportunity to have fashion businesses and brands view our work which could lead to many career opportunities. Another big accomplishment would be motivating myself everyday to work harder than ever on all my modules and aim to get the best results in the end.

RAISING MONEY FOR GRADUATE FASHION WEEK

As I am graduating this summer, I am seeking work experience or a job that leads to a full-time employment in the fashion industry and start building up my CV. But until the opportunity arrives, I will be a freelance fashion designer.
